Looking To Volunteer?

One Way Kids is a place where leaders are able to teach and engage children to grow up as disciples of Jesus and active participants in the God’s kingdom. Our volunteer staff in One Way Kids take ministry to children very seriously and have a great time doing it.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Registration Team (at least 1x per month) - Registration workers are responsible for welcoming parents and children, greeting visitors, facilitating child check-in, answering informational questions and facilitating child check-out at the conclusion of our services. This position is great for someone who is personable, organized and can focus with a lot of activity going on around them.
  • Logistics Team (at least 2x per month) - Organizes small groups' bins and other supplies; helps set up for our services by cleaning areas, preparing snacks (for preschool) and props , and other needs that may arise.
  • Small Group Leader (weekly) - Small group leaders in One Way primarily build relationships with the kids in their group as they teach a scripture-saturated lesson. Each week they facilitate both a discussion time and activities for a group of six to ten kids. Small group time is spent looking at passages of Scripture, asking questions to help the kids grow their understanding and showing them how the Bible relates to their lives. This is also a time for prayer, getting to know the kids and helping them memorize Bible verses.This position is great for a person who has a love for both kids and the Scriptures. A small group leader should also be able to facilitate discussions that tie the scriptures into everyday-life examples and applications or is willing to grow in this area. Small group leaders must be willing to become Members First Assembly and commit to serve on a consistent basis.
  • Small Group Assistant (at least 1x per month) - Small group assistants in One Way work with the small group leader to provide a safe & fun environment for children to grow as disciples. This position is great for a person who enjoys working with children, but is not able to commit to the expectations placed on a small group leader.
  • One Way Large Group Team (at least 2x per month) - The One Way Kids Large Group Ministry Team engages children in worship of God and knowledge of His character through music, dance, drama, and creative storytelling. This is a great place to serve for people who are artistically gifted in one of the above areas and have a heart to help children grow deeper in their understanding of who God is. Large Group leaders must be willing to become Members First Assembly and commit to serve on a consistent basis.
  • Special Needs - First Assembly has a growing number of children with special needs. If you have experience working with children with special needs, please email our Children’s Ministry staff to let them know. Please include which campus you attend in your e-mail.

Steps to Volunteering

1. Complete a volunteer interest form. - Please fill out our online volunteer interest form or complete a volunteer interest card at any First Assembly welcome desk to let us know that you would like to get involved.

2. Sign up for a shadow service. - To schedule, email our children’s ministry staff

3. Complete the Necessary Paperwork - We have everyone who is interested in volunteering fill out an application. The First Assembly Leadership Application and the Background Check will open in a PDF form that you can print, fill out, and turn in to the church office. We run background checks on all our volunteers as we make every effort to provide a safe environment for our kids.


  • Children’s Ministries Volunteer Expectations — This provides a detailed look at what the Children's Ministry staff will expect of volunteers.
  • Return Paperwork - Turn in the completed paperwork to the Children’s Ministries Registration Desk during a weekend service. Once we receive your paperwork, you will be contacted by a member of our staff to schedule an interview.
