Parent Ministry Connection

Role of Parents and Families

Scripture is clear that parents have been given the joy and  responsibility of raising their children in the ways of Jesus. Parents are the primary voice and point of influence in a child's life.

As children experience both pain and joy in life, parents are to help their kids see those things in light of the gospel.

Role of the Children's Ministry
We want to come alongside parents as they take the lead in the spiritual development of their children. We work hard to develop Christ-honoring curriculum and to teach scripture-saturated lessons each and every week. It is our hope to equip, encourage and minister to families by providing resources and opportunities that help them worship and learn together.

Working Together
We believe that there is much to be gained when parents and the church work together. Our partnership is important in helping kids grow and develop as passionate followers of Jesus. Here are four ways parents can partner with us as we minister to children:

  1. Come to One Way Each Week During the Same Service - During One Way, children are placed in small groups with kids of the same grade and gender. Their small group leader serves at the same service every week. Attending a consistent service each weekend will help kids connect to both their leaders and their peers.
  2. Utilize Family Resources - We have created resources to help parents talk with their kids about the gospel and how it relates to their lives. These resources include family discussion questions, activities that help you talk about the Bible, opportunities to learn about what God is doing throughout the world and recommended books.
  3. Encourage and help your kids to spend time with God through BibleTime and PrayerTime throughout the week. - Each week, we give One Way kids a D-Sheet (D is for discipleship). With this, we hope to encourage One Way kids to spend time daily with God through prayer and Bible study. Parents can help with this by helping their children establish a regular time each day when they spend time with God.
  4. Come to Events Designed for Families - Family NOW (Night of prayer and worship). Family NOW is a night for parents and their children to worship God together and to learn how to pray together at home using creative and engaging techniques and tools.
