Volunteer Opportunities
Classroom Teacher *Immediate Need
Classroom teachers lead the classroom. They keep the children on schedule, implement the classroom curriculum and ensure that the children are safe and well cared for by following the policies of the Preschool Ministry. The most important aspect of this position is building relationships with the preschoolers and their parents. It is the classroom teacher that has the greatest amount of time and influence with the children while they are with us.
Classroom Assistant
Classroom assistants in Baby Steps work with the small group leader to provide a safe & fun environment for children to grow as disciples. This position is great for a person who enjoys working with children, but is not able to commit to the expectations placed on a classroom teachers.
Service Coordinator
This position oversees and serves the volunteers during a single church service. Coordinators build relationships with their volunteers and are the liaisons for the preschool staff and the church service they coordinate. Coordinators serve as a "manager" of sorts, keeping track of attendance, maintaining teacher-to-child ratios in the classrooms and notifying parents when they are needed during the service.
Special Needs
First Assembly has a growing number of children with special needs. If you have experience working with children with special needs, please our Baby Steps staff to let them know. Please include which campus you attend in your e-mail.
Logistics
There are a number of "behind-the-scenes" tasks that are vital to the success of Baby Steps. A few examples include laundry, room re-stocking, craft preparation and storage organization. These volunteers have weekday responsibilities and are the silent servants of our ministry.
