Visiting Our Preschool Ministry
Baby Steps
Baby Steps is our nursery and preschool ministry for children 6 weeks old to kindergarten. Every weekend we have the privilege of caring for, loving on, playing with and teaching our littlest ones. We are passionate about engaging the hearts and minds of children while teaching them biblical truth, helping parents set the foundations of a life of discipleship.
Service Times
Baby Steps is open and available during all regularly scheduled services at First Assembly of God.
Child Check-in
We open 15 minutes before the first service. Both pre-school and elementary-aged children are checked in at our children’s ministries registration desk, located in the lobby of our children’s ministries building. For the safety of your children, they will not be permitted to check-in earlier than 15 minutes prior to the first service of the day.
First-time guests will proceed to the Guest Check-In desk, located in the lobby of the children’s ministry building (Download a map of our facilities), and will be asked to complete a guest registration card. Upon check-in, both parents and their children will receive sticker tags with matching alpha-numeric codes. These tags serve two purposes:
- Parent paging - If a child has a medical or behavioral issue, their security number will be displayed in the Worship Center. This alerts parents that their assistance is needed, and that they should report to the Children’s Ministries building immediately.
- Security - Parents must present their portion of the security tag when picking up their child. Children will not be released to any adult without matching security tags.
Regular guests of First Assembly will be able to expedite their weekly check-in process by printing their security tags at one of our self check-in kiosks.
Want to be Ahead of the Game?
If you plan on visiting us for the first time, feel free to download and complete our registration card before your visit. Bring it with you when you attend to help you save some time before service.
A Safe Environment
Safety is a high priority for us in caring for our preschoolers.
- Volunteers - All of our volunteers in Baby Steps are carefully trained and screened to provide the safest environment possible.
- Security Stickers - We use matching security stickers to protect your child from being released to anyone other than the adult that brought them.
- Ratios - We maintain strict teacher-to-child ratios to ensure quality care and safety for each child. For this reason, we occasionally need to “close” classrooms to additional children in order to ensure the safety of all of the children. To help us make sure we always have room for “one more child,” you can sign up to volunteer in our nursery or preschool classrooms.
Keeping Them Healthy
For the children's health, we ask that children who have fever or show symptoms of any contagious disease within the last 24 hours not be brought to Baby Steps. Please let us know of any allergies or medical conditions your child may have.
Tips and Reminders for Visiting Baby Steps
- Please label all of your child's belongings.
- Please prepare your baby's bottle in advance.
- We discourage parents from allowing their children to bring their own toys into the class as it is easy for them to be misplaced or forgotten.
Children with Special Needs
We welcome all children with special needs at Baby Steps. In order to effectively provide a safe and welcoming experience for your child at Baby Steps, please inform our registration staff of how we can best serve your child during their visit with us.
