Foundations
Are you new to First Assembly? Do you want to get connected?
Join us for Foundations, our eight week discipleship course for people who are either new believers or new to First Assembly that helps you get rooted in basic Biblical principles, connect with the pastors of the church and help you find a microchurch and your place here at First Assembly. Foundations is also a great starting point if you are looking to get plugged into a microchurch but don’t know where to start. It is set up so that you can join at any time… you don’t have to wait to jump in!
Foundations meets every Wednesday night from 7:00 – 8:30pm in L-2 (in the L-shaped building here at the church) on the main campus. Every meeting includes snacks and refreshments and lasts an hour and a half. Both One Way and SWEAT, our children and youth services are happening on campus at the same time so you can bring the entire family!
What topics are covered at Foundations?
These are the topics that will be covered over the next eight weeks. Again, these do not build on one another so you can join at any time:
Week 1: The Real Deal - Salvation & Repentance
Includes subjects such as repentance, holiness, faith, counting the cost, being a disciple, and some practical “what now?” steps after becoming a Christian
Week 2 – Getting to Know God
Explains the importance of the basic spiritual disciplines and ways to connect with Jesus: prayer, reading the Bible, and fasting.
Week 3 – The Lost and the Least
You will hear these words a lot around here. This study gives insights into how to share your faith and also reach out to and engage "the least of these".
Week 4 - Our Identity in Christ
Builds a foundation and helps us understand our new identity that we have in Jesus. It also gives a brief overview on temptation and how to counter them.
Week 5 – The Person, Power, and Promise of the Holy Spirit
Addresses subjects such as who the Holy Spirit is and how He works in and through us. We also go over topics such as the baptism of the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts.
Week 6 - Plugging In
Explains the importance of being a part of a Christian community, getting into a microchurch, and serving at the local church.
Week 7 – Membership Class - Mission, Vision, and Values of First Assembly
Elaborates on the mission, vision, and values of our church. In this week you really get to see, feel, and experience the heart and soul of our church and what drives us.
Week 8 – Membership Class - Q&A with Pastor Mike
Pastor Mike gives everyone at Foundations a chance to ask him anything… anything at all. Whether it has to do with theology, our church, beliefs, or even personal questions, he is game for it all!
