We have seen the need for disciples to be developed, trained, and exposed to vocational ministry as they seek to learn about where God might be calling them. First Assembly internships (FAI) were designed with this in mind and to serve as an opportunity to come alongside specific leaders at First Assembly. You will grow and learn through a discipleship model that involves an emphasis on leadership development, spiritual formation, and hands on ministry.
We want to raise up a generation of radical leaders who want nothing less than to change the world, and FAI provides you with the skills and abilities to make that a reality. We are not looking for busy bodies or paper pushers: we are looking for people that we can empower to be contributing members of our team who are on front lines, making disciples, and helping us take this world for Jesus.
All of the internships within FAI have a specific focus ranging from church planting to serving within specific ministries at the church. We offer three different levels of internships, each with different financial and time commitments as well as levels of responsibility. Internships are a year long committment unless stated otherwise.
Level 2 & 3 Internships
Level 2 and level 3 internships are specifically designed for people who desire to pursue vocational ministry. These internships provide a training ground for intensive spiritual formation and a chance to experience what it is like to be in full time ministry by actually doing the work of the ministry. Level 2 & 3 interns work under a staff member who provides 1 on 1 mentoring throughout the duration of the internship.
- Level 3 Time Commitment: 40 hours a week
- Level 3 Financial Commitment: $2,400 (or $800 a semester)
- Level 2 Time Commitment: 20-30 hours a week
- Level 2 Financial Commitment: $1,800 (or $600 a semester)
Level 1 internships
Level 1 internships are for those who work full time, go to school full time, or have a family but have the desire to grow and progress in the area of ministry that a specific internship focuses on. Level 1 interns also work under a staff member who provides either one on one mentoring or a cohort style mentoring throughout the duration of the internship.
- Level 1 Time Commitment: 10-15 hours a week
- Level 1 Financial Commitment: $1,200 (or $400 a semester)
Qualifications:
- Be a member of First Assembly.
- Be in a microchurch .
- Be joyful and flexible willing to do “whatever it takes”
- Successful completion of Leadership Pipeline. (If LP is not completed, that does not exclude you from FAI. It can be done the first semester of FAI. Priority, however, is given to those who have already comleted LP)
Application Process
Check out the Internship Board. Take a look at what is available and see if any of the internships align with passions and desires that God has put in you or where you think you could grow and benefit from the most. If there is an internship that you are interested in, go ahead and download that internship’s application and send your completed application to fai@first-assemby.org. The staff member that is over that ministry team will contact you regarding the position. Following the application period, an interview and assessment process will begin. Accepted interns will then, if necessary, begin the support raising process.
