First Assembly of God

Who We Are

FAQ

What is the primary goal of the First Assembly Internships?
FAI is a training and proving ground for emerging church leaders.  Our goal is to train up future leaders with a specific focus on three areas of growth: leadership development, spiritual formation, and hands on ministry.

If I do an internship at First Assembly, does that mean that I will be hired by the church once my internship is complete?
No.  Participating in the internship in no way guarantees that you will be offered a job or a position here at First Assembly.

What does a typical week look like for an intern for a level 2 or 3 intern?

  • Interns are given ministry work to run with little management.  It is extremely hands on with a staff mentoring them through the process.  There is also a set schedule for spiritual formation and some aspects of leadership development but the majority of ministry work will be determined by the staff mentor.
  • Each intern will have a 1 on 1 with their supervising staff member of 1 hour each week unless there are multiple interns in which there may be a cohort style set up with the staff mentor
  • Each intern works and plays a critical part of making Sunday work.  Level 2 & 3 interns work Sundays and participate as coach apprentices and coaches in Leadership Pipeline.

What does a typical week look like for an intern for a level 1 intern?

  • Interns are given ministry work to run with little management.  It is extremely hands on with a staff mentoring them through the process.  They set their own schedule but some have office hours depending on their task and who they are under.
  • Each intern will have a 1 on 1 with their supervising staff member of 1 hour each week unless there are multiple interns in which there may be a cohort styl set up with the staff mentor
  • Level 1 interns will not participate in Leadership Pipeline as coaches but will be responsible for helping at one service on Sundays.

Are they paid internships?
No.  The interns are expected to raise their own support.  They should have 100% of their fund raising complete before starting their internship

What First Assembly staff members does an intern interact with?
This will vary depending on which internship you are applying for.  Most of your mentoring will come from the staff member over the specific ministry you are applying for.  For example, if you are applying for a youth ministry internship, most of your time will be spent with Pastor Robbie, our youth pastor.  If you are applying for a One Way internship, most of your time will be spent with Pastor Jason, our children’s pastor.

You will be rubbing shoulders with and will be discipled by other pastoral staff and staff members throughout the week as well, but the majority of the time will be with your staff mentor.
